“ROLL DOWN JUSTICE”
Lenten Small Group

Tuesdays through April 12 at 7pm at Burning Bush Brewery

by the General Commission on Religion and Race

This Lenten study, Roll Down, Justice!, written by Faye Wilson and featuring the music and reflections of Mark A. Miller, asks how we can continue to do the work of justice and joy in our community.

Mark Miller has written a collection of songs, lyrics and music, which remind us of the work we have to do. We all learn in different ways and this study calls us to sing to ourselves and to each other the call that we each have to do to “seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.” Carry the commitment to care – to bring about justice in God’s world – as a song in your heart. Roll Down, Justice!

Small groups are a great way to grow in relationship with folks in the area and your faith. They change regularly so keep checking this page or contact the church office (office@berryumc.org) to get connected.

Discussions around democracy and faith

What is Christian Nationalism? What dangers does it present to our faith and democracy?

Join us for a small group where we will be discussing these questions as well as exploring how we can hold these difficult conversations with those who don't see Christian Nationalism as a threat.

Meetings will be held at Burning Bush Brewery on:

Tuesday, October 19 (6pm)

Tuesday, October 26 (6:30pm)

Tuesday, November 16 (6:30pm)

Online Implicit bias course

The General Commission on Religion and Race has a new online course that is free here. From the GCORR website: GCORR has created an online course for anyone who is interested in learning and teaching others about implicit bias.

This course is designed for you to take at your own pace and includes bonus content specifically for preachers.

The learning engagements included in each section allow for individual work, group work, and optional sermon preparation. All of the learning engagements recognize and lift up the reality that context is known best by those on the ground. Thus, while this course provides multiple entry points for learning about, thinking through, and transforming action regarding implicit bias, it does not contextualize the information for you. Implicit Bias: What We Don’t Think We Think honors the contextual wisdom that you and others will bring to this material. Each exercise is an invitation to the sacred journey of discovering with your church and community how God is leading you to use this material faithfully within your context.
